The Final Fantasy VII Remake EXPerience

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake Exp

I like many of you had been following the development of this game for years and was very excited for its release. But when I actually got it, i was astounded by it. Not just because of the game itself but the phenomenon and experience around it. Crazy circumstances that forced everyone to focus on this game and for me brought a much needed ray of sunshine to a gloomy time

The Energy

The energy around this game was amazing. It was ultra nostalgic. Let me try to explain. This game is a remake of a beloved jrpg classic. These kinds of games have come out before but this felt special. Maybe it was the nostalgia of grinding for hours trying to beat Ruby weapon. Maybe it was the shared frustrating anticipation of waiting for this remake to finally be released. But the Jrpg community felt united in its excitement and understanding of how monumental this game could be. Square even had a trailer that acknowledged that all of us who played the original had now grown up and were in different places in life, yet excited to jump back into the adventure and revisit our friends in Midgar.

The Full Package

The situation was very strange for many other reasons. One because the pandemic was hitting the world and due to lock down I couldn’t leave the house. Luckily I had secured a copy of the soldier first class edition to be delivered to my house. But the problem now was that I moved. I pre-ordered the game as soon as pre-orders were available but between that time and release I decided to move a few hundred miles away with my family. I needed to change my address or be forced to drive 8 hours back to my old house and wait for the package to arrive…and for the love of Jrpgs..I was willing to do just that.

Luckily I was able to change my address to the air bnb I was staying at. When the game arrived I could hardly believe it. The box was huge!! The game was packed beside the Cloud statue in a separate deluxe edition box.
Which was good for me because I don’t want to open the statue until I’m in my permanent place.

The Game

Now I experienced FF7 Remake for the first time while playing the demo they released for
It. But for some reason I was still really excited to see the opening part again.

The character models were so amazing to me. I thought the battle system better now that I could use different characters. They all felt very different so I was in a mode of constant discovery.

I don’t know if its because of the the lock down or if its just in my nature but I fell in love with the mini games in this game. The first one was the darts. I managed to get a perfect score in it and it was over from there. I had to get perfect scores on all of them. To make it worse you could collect remixed music through out the game. This gave me more things to do on the side and I because completely side tracked.

After I finally hit some personal goals with the mini games, i moved on to Finishing the Game. the way they handled everything at the end was amazing to me.

Dont Worry, My goal on this Blog is to avoid spoilers at all costs. Even if a game is decades old, it may still be new to you So with that said, i wont get into the ending.

I felt like there was alot of bonding around this game. players old and new getting together to not only tell stories about there in game experiences but also their real life experiences that realated to Final Fantasy and helped shape them into the person they are today. Yes, video games are that powerful that they can change the course of your life. But I’m Probably preaching to the choir because if youre a JRPG Fan the you know  that already.

What did you Think of this game? did you Play it or the original? or both? I love hearing different perspectives on these big titles, let me know what you think in the comments down below.
